How is one Saved?

How is one Saved?

We pray to Jesus and fervently and in reverence of Him, to humbly ask for His Mercy, in our heartfelt repentance, ask for His forgiveness for our sins.  He is a Holy God.  We can’t come to Him with arrogance or pride or anger, we need His help, for we are nothing but dust, without Him.

Jesus said (in red font) below:

“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.” – John 6:44 (NASB)

And

65 And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.John 6:65 (NASB)

God the Father “draws the person”.  Jesus is the Only Way.

Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.  – John 14:6 (NASB)

And when a person “believes” enough, and has faith, no matter how small, (faith grows), that person can accept what it takes to decide to follow Christ, and also to do as He commands.

3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. –  John 3:1-3 (NASB)

Meaning “born again” in the spirit, born from above.

3 and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.Matthew 18:3-6 (NASB)

And

23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.” – John 14:23-24 (NASB)

How do we keep Jesus’ Words?  Well, we have to KNOW it first, so read your bible.  It’s not an “instant” changing .. born of water, born in the flesh, that takes time.  Being born of the spirit, we “become like children” humble and still growing in our faith.  It is a “process” of transformation as we become “conformed” to becoming Christ-like.

29 “For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.” – Romans 8:29-30 (NASB)

“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.” – John 6:44 (NASB)

And Jesus warns us:

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.Matthew 7:21-23 (NASB)

It’s not enough that we know or accept what Jesus says, we must also DO as He says and commands of us.  Be careful in following false prophets or false teachers who preach a different gospel – KNOW the gospel yourself.  Read the bible.  We’ve made reference to specific scriptures here.  You cannot follow the Real Christ, if you don’t know who He is yourself.

The Narrow and Wide Gates
13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.Matthew 7:13-14 (NASB)

15 Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?”Matthew 7:15-16 (NASB)
